What that means is, if your Google+ reach is wide, you will be more likely to show up on results, and if you are not… well, you won’t.  Did you set up your Google+ page for business yet? 1. If you are starting from scratch, the first few months, you are acquiring followers/friends/fans.  So nobody is really listing to your message quite yet.  You can post daily, even 3 to 4 times a day, but if you have no fans, nobody is listening! So give it a little time.  After a few months of growing your fan base, you should start to see more activity and more comments from you efforts
2. Social media a lot of times is trial and error.  Maybe you don’t have the right name or keywords for your profiles.  Or maybe your messages are not targeted to your audience.  Or maybe, you are going after the wrong followers.  Do your research, and figure out what is and what isn’t working before deciding if social media isn’t for you.

1) Ask your friends on your personal profile to like your page. Send and email, post on their profiles, send a Facebook Message

2) Get some new business cards made, and make sure you add your Facebook URL, and ask people to like your page.

3) Create a flyer and post at your place of business, ask people to Like your page and also check in.

4) Buy them. There are services that sell Facebook likes.  This may not be the most effective or most ethical way of getting likes, but it is an option.

5) Hire a virtual assistant or social media company to look for targeted people to invite to your page. Social media is a way to connect with new people.  Your friends on Facebook recommend you, and they want to know where you are at the touch of a button.  How easy would it be to share your Facebook Page with your phone number, email, address, map, video and pictures of your dentist and services?

A great way to use your down time in the tax season, is to start building relationships with potential customers when you are not busy preparing taxes.  Are you using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube to reach out to these potential customers? If you are not, you are missing a wonderful opportunity to connect on a personal level with your potential customers and line them up for business prospects for next tax season.

Here are some tips on what to do:

1) If you don’t have a Facebook account already, create a personal account as well as a Fan Page, or a business page. When you create a Fan Page, use the keywords you would like to rank for, for example: Tax Preparer Fremont, CA.

2) Look for people in your city or area, and send them a personalized request to be your friend or Facebook.  Don’t send out too many in one day, as Facebook may freeze your account.  Invite a few friends per day, and once they have accepted your friend request, send them a link to your Fan Page.

3) Post informative, useful or funny information daily, to keep your followers interested, so they can get to know you and your business.

You can also create a Twitter account, YouTube, Linked in, create a blog, do some social bookmarking and so on and so on! It could take quite a bit out of your day to maintain your social media, but it is well worth it in the long run.  You could get your teenage kids to help or hire a virtual assistant to help with the daily activity.
