So, Tax Season ends April 15th, so you have a long vacation right? Not if you want to grow your practice next year!

A great way to use your down time in the tax season, is to start building relationships with potential customers when you are not busy preparing taxes.  Are you using Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube to reach out to these potential customers? If you are not, you are missing a wonderful opportunity to connect on a personal level with your potential customers and line them up for business prospects for next tax season.

Here are some tips on what to do:

1) If you don’t have a Facebook account already, create a personal account as well as a Fan Page, or a business page. When you create a Fan Page, use the keywords you would like to rank for, for example: Tax Preparer Fremont, CA.

2) Look for people in your city or area, and send them a personalized request to be your friend or Facebook.  Don’t send out too many in one day, as Facebook may freeze your account.  Invite a few friends per day, and once they have accepted your friend request, send them a link to your Fan Page.

3) Post informative, useful or funny information daily, to keep your followers interested, so they can get to know you and your business.

You can also create a Twitter account, YouTube, Linked in, create a blog, do some social bookmarking and so on and so on! It could take quite a bit out of your day to maintain your social media, but it is well worth it in the long run.  You could get your teenage kids to help or hire a virtual assistant to help with the daily activity.
